Baltimore Ravens to Cut Odell Beckham Jr. to Save on MASSIVE $50 Million Salary

In what some would consider a shocking but understandable decision, the Baltimore Ravens have cut Odell Beckham Jr. after signing Derrick Henry for two years.

Beckham has always been one of the more entertaining players in the NFL ever since he broke out with the New York Giants in 2014. While some may argue the move is premeditated by the Ravens, fans across the league will be interested to know where the 31-year-old Super Bowl champion will be headed next.

Baltimore Ravens to Cut Odell Beckham Jr. to Save on MASSIVE $50 Million Salary

Baltimore Ravens cut Odell Beckham Jr. during 2024 free agency
Mike Fisher of Raven Country broke the news that the team has officially moved on from Beckham. He wrote that the team probably planned for the cut the moment they decided to restructure his contract:

OBJ made his comeback after the serious knee injury in 2023 with the Ravens, catching 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns. But due in part to the way his contract was restructured – making it clear this was always the plan – the team is about to cut OBJ.

And in doing so, will avoid this week’s deadline before a $50 million salary locks in for 2024.

The Ravens will off course face dead cap penalties, as the piper must always be paid. (That’s reportedly $2.767 million in 2024 and $8.301 million in 2025.) And this will figure to be a post-June 1 designated move.

Since OBJ was still coming back from an injury, it’s understandable that his 2023 numbers are still far from his production during his peak with the Giants and the Cleveland Browns.

However, his 565 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 16.1 yards per catch should still make him a viable weapon for teams looking for a capable wideout.

Possible 2024 destinations for Odell Beckham Jr.
After the Baltimore Ravens pulled the trigger on OBJ’s time with the team, his next destination immediately became the next big topic.

Fisher suggested that the Kansas City Chiefs would be a possible suitor for OBJ’s services. The team only had Travis Kelce to count on for much of the season, and an experienced star like Beckham could take some of the pressure off him and Patrick Mahomes.

However, he also shot down his suggestion, claiming that it’s unlikely OBJ would play for a team that killed off his chances of winning a Super Bowl this recently.

Other WR-hungry teams that could make a move for the former Raven include the Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
