Giants’ Massive Trade Offer To The New England Patriots For 3rd Overall Pick That Eventually Got Rejected

New Report Reveals The New York Giants' Massive Trade Offer To The New England Patriots For 3rd Overall Pick That Eventually Got Rejected

The Giants will hope Malik Nabers can help kick off a successful era in New York after making him the No. 6 overall pick on Thursday night.

The former LSU star was one of the best wide receivers in college last season and will look to replicate his success in the pros after joining the G-Men. But a curious report suggests he was not their first option.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the NFC side offered their 2025 first-round pick to the New England Patriots in an attempt to trade up to No. 3 and select Drake Maye.

The Patriots are also reported to have received an offer from the Minnesota Vikings, who were willing to part with both of their 2024 first-round picks and their 2025 first-rounder.

The Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants did make offers to the New England Patriots for the No. 3 pick to take Drake Maye,” Breer wrote. “Earlier this week, Minnesota offered the Nos. 11 and 23 picks, and its 2025 first-rounder, with pick swaps favoring the Vikings as part of the proposal; and that offer ticked up with New England on the clock. The Giants, meanwhile, did wind up putting their 2025 first-round pick in their offer to move from No. 6 to No. 3.

It appears the Giants were ready to quit on Daniel Jones a year after handing him a massive contract, but he will likely be the one throwing to Nabers next season.

Malik Nabers Didn’t Appear Thrilled To Arrive At The New York Giants’ Facility

The New York Giants weren’t Malik Nabers’ top choice either; at least that’s what fans gathered from a video showing the player’s arrival at the team’s facility on Friday.

Nabers did not look happy to be there and didn’t even want to discuss Jones when speaking to reporters.

I’ll wait until I get here to see all of that,” he said after being asked for his take on his new teammate opinion on Jones. “I’m just happy to be here. Great organization here, so I’m just happy to be here.

Doesn’t seem like a match made in heaven for now.
