As another NFL season ends in disappointment for the Dallas Cowboys, fans are getting frustrated with how the team is run. They expect a team that has talent across the board to make a deep playoff run and not miss out on the big dance.
As the team looks to try for the Super Bowl again next season, team owner Jerry Jones made sure to let everyone know that he also expects great things from his team as well and will be doing everything he could to bring the Lombardi to Arlington.
Jerry Jones: Dallas Cowboys must change to meet expectations
The long-time team owner is interviewed at the NFL Awards about another disappointing season after the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card.
He sympathized with fans and promised that the team is doing everything they can to buck the trend of early postseason exits, as reported by The Spun’s Matt Hladik:
“Believe you me, no one in the world is more appreciative of how much we let the fans down by not getting it done against Green Bay,” Jones said. “We gotta change that. And we’ll do everything to do it.”
He also talked about losing a great defensive coach as Dan Quinn is now the head of the Washington Commanders. However, he told the public that he expects the same caliber of defense out of Mike Zimmer, the new DC for the Dallas Cowboys:
“We lost a heck of a defensive coach who is now going to be the head coach of the Washington team and they’re gonna be formidable because he’s a good coach,” Jones said of Quinn. “But I’ve been on the phone all afternoon with our future defensive coach. We’re excited about that. We’ve been working all the way flying out here on that.”
The task for the Dallas Cowboys doesn’t get any easier in 2024, but they still have one of the best teams in the NFL. If America’s Team manages to fix their playoff issues, it won’t be hard to imagine them winning the Super Bowl.
