Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs joined an elite group of teams to win back-to-back Super Bowls. Before their 2024 victory, only eight teams were able to do it, with the last one being the New England Patriots back in 2004 and 2005.
Now, as everyone looks forward to next season, much of the talk has been about whether or not the Chiefs can became the first-ever NFL team to three-peat.
Sure enough, Mahomes has his eyes set on the legendary feat as he looks to add more accolades to his already full trophy cabinet.
Patrick Mahomes Eyeing ‘Legendary’ 3-Peat With Kansas City Chiefs
After their Super Bowl 58 victory on Sunday, Mahomes was asked about his thoughts on the Chiefs potentially making it a Super Bowl three-peat in the 2024 season. The Kansas City QB picked the perfect word to describe it, noting that it would be “legendary.”
Mahomes expounded on the possibility, noting that he and the rest of the team are determined to make that happen. He also promised that they will get back to work quickly after their celebrations and some rest.Ezoic
“It [would be] legendary,” Mahomes said on the Chiefs potentially achieving the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat, via NFL.com.
“No one’s ever done it and we knew it’s legendary to win back-to-back. I think eight other teams have done it. We had heard it all week. We had talked to the guys [who had gone back-to-back] about it and we felt like we had the best opportunity that we had ever had to go out there and do that.
The Chiefs QB added, “We’ve got to continue to play our best football. We’ll celebrate these next few weeks and then we’ll get right back at it. … To be able to have our stamp on this great NFL history is something that I’ll never take for granted.”
It will definitely be interesting to see if Mahomes and the Chiefs can actually make it happen. Sure, it’s thinking too far ahead since it won’t be another year before we get back to the Super Bowl once again. Nonetheless, there will certainly be plenty of eyes on them as they look to obtain football immortality.
Kansas City Chiefs’ Dynasty
The Kansas City Chiefs have certainly established themselves as a dynasty after their Super Bowl 58 win. They have been to the big dance four times in the last five years, and they have won the title in three instances–only losing to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
No one can deny that the Chiefs are one of the most dominant dynasties already, perhaps only second to Brady’s Patriots … at least for now.
Patrick Mahomes himself didn’t shy away from recognizing what he and the team accomplished, but he wanted everyone to know that they are not satisfied and won’t be stopping despite their latest feat.
“We’re not done. We’ve got a young team, we’re gonna keep this thing going,” Mahomes said when asked if they are already a dynasty.
Sure enough, that’s what Chiefs fans want to hear.
