The Seahawks continued to fill out the assistant coaching staff of new head coach Mike Macdonald on Tuesday, reportedly adding four more.
Three have ties to someone already on the staff.
The four expected to be hired are:
Jeff Howard as defensive-backs coach
Nick Perry as a defensive assistant
Mack Brown as tight-ends coach
Zak Hill as offensive assistant quality control/quarterbacks
A league source confirmed to The Seattle Times the expected hires of Howard and Hill. The hire of Brown — not to be confused with the longtime head coach of the same name, but instead most recently an assistant with the Jets — was reported by ESPN. And the hire of Perry was reported by 247sports.com.
Howard had most recently been linebackers coach with the Chargers but was also the defensive-backs coach/pass-game coordinator with the Browns from 2020-22

Will Geno Smith again be under center for Seahawks?
He began his NFL coaching career as an assistant with the Vikings in 2013 when Leslie Frazier — recently named as assistant head coach for the Seahawks — was the head coach.
Perry had most recently been the assistant receivers coach for the Falcons.
He played safety at Alabama and in 2015 was on the practice squad of the Ravens when Macdonald was a defensive assistant there.
Hill, a native of Battle Ground who played at Central Washington, coached at Boise State from 2016-19, sharing the title of offensive coordinator in 2016 with Scott Huff, the former UW offensive-line coach who was recently named to the same position with the Seahawks.
Hill then took over as the sole OC at Boise State from 2017-19 when Huff came to Washington, and then was the OC at Arizona State in 2020-21 before becoming one of a handful of coaches to leave the program in the wake of an NCAA investigation into alleged recruiting violations.
He served as the head coach last year at Saguaro High in Scottsdale, leading the team to a state title but had left Saguaro earlier this month to take a job on the staff at American Leadership Academy Gilbert North high school.
With the Seahawks, Hill will work alongside Charles London, who last week was reported to be hired as QB coach.
Hill confirmed his hiring to The Arizona Republic in a story published Tuesday.
“I’ve been wanting to get into the NFL for a long time,” Hill was quoted as saying. “I had the opportunity with the right guys hired. They interviewed me on Saturday morning, and called and offered me the job on Saturday night. Arranged some things on Sunday, and flew me out yesterday (Monday).”
Brown spent the past five seasons with the Jets, the last three as an offensive assistant working primarily with receivers. He also coached at Missouri from 2012-14 and as offensive coordinator at Missouri State from 2015-18 and was a quarterback at Colorado in 2005.
The Seahawks have officially announced eight assistant coaches, including Frazier as well as Huff, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and defensive coordinator Aden Durde.
Including the expected hires of those not yet confirmed by the team, Seattle unofficially is up to 17 assistants on Macdonald’s staff. Seattle last year had 23 assistants on the staff of coach Pete Carroll.
