Chicago Bears OC Drops Massive Hint on Team’s QB Plan Amid Justin Fields Exit Rumors

There is still a lot of doubt surrounding Justin Fields’ future with the Chicago Bears. The team is expected to use their No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft to pick up a guy like Caleb Williams or Drake Maye — either of which will step in as the team’s new QB of the future.

This likely means that there’s going to be no room in Chicago for Fields, who unfortunately for him, is coming off a disappointing 2023 campaign.Ezoic

New Chicago Bears OC Shan Waldron Adds More Fire to Flame

The Bears recently brought on Sahne Waldron as their new offensive coordinator, which is a decision that will have a significant impact on Chicago’s plans for the upcoming season, particularly in the quarterback position.

Waldron spoke to the press on Thursday as he shared his thoughts on the team’s QB dilemma:Ezoic

“Waldron said that ‘adaptability’ is the hallmark of his offense because he believes the Bears are going to be able ‘adjust the scheme to the player’s skillset‘ once they have installed that player in the offense,” wrote Josh Alper of PFT.

That’s not exactly a vote of confidence for Fields. Rather, Waldron is pretty much saying that his offense will be able to adapt to whoever ends up taking the QB1 role for Chicago — be it Fields, Williams, Maye, or anybody else for that matter.

“I totally believe that,” Waldron said. “In my past experiences with different quarterbacks, different experience levels, whether I was in the coordinator role or in a role as a position coach, I’ve felt that way. I’ve felt different quarterbacks have been able to set foot into the system, be able to learn it quickly — that starts with us being able to teach it in a good and efficient manner where they understand it — and then being able to go and adjust because each guy’s gonna have a different skillset. What direction does it go? The players really take ownership and control of that.”

If you ask me, Waldron is already well prepared for the eventuality of the Bears moving on from Fields.
