The Kansas City Chiefs beat the odds as they repeated as Super Bowl champions after beating the San Francisco 49ers.
Super Bowl LVIII was one for the books because the Chiefs overcame a double-digit deficit to force overtime and win in the extra period.
Patrick Mahomes may not have had a wide array of weapons at his disposal, but he made do with what he had and won his third Super Bowl MVP award as a result.
While Mahomes was named the MVP of the game, the defense deserves a ton of credit for slowing down San Francisco in the second half and overtime.
Chris Jones was a large part in that effort, shutting down the gaps in the 49ers’ preferred run game and getting pressure on Brock Purdy.
However, Jones is likely to hit free agency and he posted an ambiguous message via his personal Twitter account.
“Praying all my dawgs get what they deserve,” Jones tweeted.
Jones held out from the team during the previous offseason as he waited for a long-term extension, but the two sides never agreed on one.
The star defensive tackle returned to the Chiefs anyway and played out the entire season, though now he finds himself a likely candidate to hit free agency.

Jones has previously talked about his desire to be in Kansas City his whole career, but if he gets a lucrative offer elsewhere he’ll more than likely take it.

The Chiefs would be wise to try and find a way to keep Jones on the team, but their future salary cap commitments could make that tough.
