As of right now, Justin Fields is still a member of the Chicago Bears. This could change anytime, though, especially with the NFL Draft fast approaching.
According to renowned sports broadcaster Colin Cowherd, one of the reasons why Fields is still in Chicago is because of the local media. The Fox Sports 1 host recently called out the Chicago press for supposedly being too soft on the 24-year-old quarterback.

In a recent episode of The Herd, Cowherd decided to go full savage on both Fields and the supposedly overprotective Chicago media. According to the tenured broadcaster, the press has a misguided loyalty toward the team’s current cornerstone quarterback:
“The Chicago media all season long tried to defend him, elevate him, protect him, promote him. Maybe they’re watching Ohio State film,” Cowherd said of Fields before citing the quarterback’s career stats in the second half of seasons. “You know what that is? The guy I keep comparing him to. Zach Wilson. But New York media never defends Zach Wilson. They call it as they see it, as they should. I respect that. Chicago media, ‘This guy deserves another year.’ He is, in the second half of the year, Zach Wilson.”

It’s not just Fields who’s being thrown under the bus here as New York Jets QB was also not spared by Cowherd’s savagery. In fact, the media personality made it abundantly clear how he feels about the young Jets backup QB.
As for Fields, Cowherd might soon get his wish of the Bears moving on from the former Georgia and Ohio State standout. There could be a new sheriff in town soon, and his name is Caleb Williams.
