Breece Hall implores NY Jets to sign top free agent receiver

The recruiting crew are at it again for the New York Jets.

In the 2023 offseason, Sauce Gardner took the lead with a cheesehead-burning ritual to attract Aaron Rodgers to New York. This year, he’s already made the news by requesting to play with Calvin Ridley and Tee Higgins (though he may have missed the memo that the tweet asked for a “free agent no one is talking about”).

Now, Breece Hall joined in on the recruiting gang.

The Jets’ Pro Football Focus page asked on Twitter whether the team should pursue Mike Evans this offseason. We’ve already addressed this question at length: the answer is a resounding yes.

Hall agrees, peeking between his fingers to show that he sincerely hopes the Jets will do so.

There are multiple problems facing the Jets in this area, though. The biggest one may be prying Evans away from Tampa Bay. He recently stated, “I’ve been on record saying how much I love this place and how much I want to be here. Not a lot of guys finish with one team so that will be amazing if I get to do that but, you know, we’ll see.”

Additionally, recent speculation indicates that Evans will command between $25-30 million per year. That may be too steep for the Jets. Even if they can reach that number, there will likely be a long list of bidders for Evans’ services; with the recent chaos surrounding the Jets, it’s hard to imagine that they would be his top choice.

Still, the Jets need a receiving weapon to pair with Garrett Wilson, and Evans would undeniably be it. A player with 10 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to start his career, coming off one of the most efficient seasons thereof, is worth his weight in gold. That one move could get the Jets back into the contention conversation.

Forget Gardner’s choices; Hall knows where things stand for the Jets.
