The Washington Commanders suffered another losing season in 2023, though it gave team owner Josh Harris a chance to evaluate the organization.
Harris immediately cleaned house once the regular season was over by reassigning former general manager Martin Mayhew and firing head coach Ron Rivera.
The Commanders hired Adam Peters as their new general manager, leaving their head coaching vacancy as their largest remaining hire.
Washington did their due diligence by interviewing a host of candidates but ultimately hired Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to become their new head coach.
Harris issued a statement when the hiring was made official, via Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post.
“My partners and I entered this offseason intent on hiring elite candidates to shape the next chapter of Commanders football and I believe we did just that — first with Adam Peters and now by welcoming the highly respected Dan Quinn as our head coach,” Harris said.

Quinn was a popular target for several teams this hiring cycle, but landed in Washington after weeks of speculating where he might go.
The Commanders have some talented players on the defensive side of the field, though they could use reinforcements after trading away pieces at the trade deadline.
Regardless, Quinn will get the chance to build the team his way and with the upcoming draft and free agency around the corner Washington should be busy finding players who fit his vision.
