The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly working on making Dak Prescott the highest-paid player in the NFL.
Prior to the end of the 2023 season, Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reported that the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott are ‘highly motivated’ to get a deal done.
In an update provided by Mike Fisher of Cowboys Country, both sides are ready to sit down and hammer out details on a historic contract extension for the veteran signal-caller.
Prescott could be making in the range of $55 million to $60 million annually if he and the Cowboys can agree to terms. If the deal were to get done in the $55 to $60 million annually range, Prescott would be either tied with Cincinnati Bengals QB, Joe Burrow ($55 mil.) or in the sole lead when it comes to annual salaries. However, it’s unlikely that the 30-year-old will exceed Kansas City Chiefs QB and former two-time league MVP, Patrick Mahomes’ $450 million total value (over 10 years).
Following his injury riddled and up-and-down 2022 campaign, Dak Prescott has bounced back in a very big way in 2023 as the former Mississippi State QB currently sits with the fifth-best MVP odds with just two weeks to go in the regular season. The veteran signal caller has completed over 68% of his passes, while throwing for 3,892 yards, and tossing 30 touchdown passes to go along with another two scores on the ground.
