Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones thinks highly of his quarterback, Dak Prescott. Jones believes that a Super Bowl could be in Dak’s future.
David Moore of the Dallas Morning News had this quote from Jerry: “I think there are a handful or more of quarterbacks playing who haven’t won a Super Bowl that will win a Super Bowl. I think Dak is one of them. I’m firm there. He’s one of the ones who can.”
Jerry obviously believes in Dak Prescott, investing a high percentage of the team’s cap on his quarterback. Prescott has over a $55 million cap hit for 2024. He recently reworked his deal to save the Cowboys $5 million this offseason, but belief in Dak might be the only way to move forward.
Dallas Cowboys Quarterback
As reported by Gridiron Heroics, the Cowboys are locked into Dak for the immediate and probably long-term future at the quarterback position. His contract is structured so that the only options the Cowboys have is to work a long-term deal and push the financial issues down the line or trade Dak.
Dak Prescott is 2-5 in the playoffs. His most recent loss upset the Green Bay Packers in Dallas. It is a tough decision to make whether to maneuver Dak’s contract down the line and commit to him longer than 2025 (his current standing).
Will Dak ever win the Super Bowl?
The question Jerry poses is, can Dak win a Super Bowl?
Jerry states, “There are a handful or more of quarterbacks playing who haven’t won a Super Bowl that will win a Super Bowl,” meaning that of any quarterback in the NFL who has not won a Super Bowl, Dak could be one of the few to still take the trophy home.

The only current active starting quarterbacks that have won a Super Bowl are Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, and Matthew Stafford. Joe Flacco won but is not starting.
Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Brock Purdy, and Lamar Jackson have not won a Super Bowl. Most would contend that is the list of the active quarterbacks that “could” win a Super Bowl that has not. Each quarterback listed has made it further in the playoffs (in their respective conference) than Dak.
All quarterbacks, winning and non-winning, have lower cap hits than Dak Prescott. Dak has the second-highest cap number at quarterback; the only one higher is Deshaun Watson.
Jerry did not state the number on his list or within his handful, but most would contend that each of these quarterbacks listed has a higher chance of winning than Dak does.
Dallas Cowboys Odds to Win
BetMGM currently has the Cowboys ranked eighth in future odds to win the Super Bowl.
The teams listed ahead of them include the 49ers, the Chiefs, the Ravens, the Bills, the Lions, the Bengals, and the Eagles. Each of these teams has a quarterback listed as “non-winning, but could win” or already has a Super Bowl victory.
Jerry may be backing his franchise quarterback, but even Vegas sees many other options for winning a championship before Dak does.
