Due to their cap situation, the Denver Broncos haven’t made many moves in free agency, but one has been made that will fly under the radar a bit—not because of who they signed, but because of how it all happened.

This has happened before, but this is the most recent example. On Tuesday, one of the Broncos free agents, meaning a guy who played with them last year but was a free agent this offseason, decided he wanted to sign with the Carolina Panthers.

Linebacker Justin Strnad, the free agent in this scenario, was close to finalizing a deal with the Panthers, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo.

But, at the last second, Strnad had a change of heart and decided he wanted to return with the team that drafted him. In three years with the Broncos, Strnad has played in every game possible, coming in at 50 games played.

In those 50 games, Strnad has played in 1,004 special teams snaps and 316 defensive snaps. It’s safe to say the Broncos will appreciate having a great special teams player back.
