LeBron believes his son Bronny James could play for the Lakers right now
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is understandably frustrated with the way his team is playing right now. Having lost four-straight games, the Lakers are currently outside of the play-in picture, which is not where they want to be.
Following Friday night’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, James reportedly said his son, USC guard Bronny James, could play for the Lakers right now:
This reported comment from James has been very controversial on social media for a couple reasons. While some are debating the accuracy of it, that has been less of a conversation than the impact it might have in the locker room. The Lakers are of course not playing well, which has a lot to do with their underperforming complimentary pieces, but some have felt that James is putting his underperforming teammates on blast with this comment.
On the other side of that argument, people have said that James is not individually calling out which teammates his son could outperform right now, but instead making a broad statement about how poor the Lakers are playing as a unit. Additionally, while this comment from James was made within earshot of media members, the initial reporter made its clear that it was said during Anthony Davis’ media availability, and not directly to reporters during James’ own postgame media session.
All of that being said, this was an interesting statement from James that has gotten a lot of attention.
