Some New York Yankees studs apparently want to see the thing happen.
Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports this week that two top Yankees stars, Gerrit Cole and Aaron Judge, recommended the signing of lefty Blake Snell. Heyman does add though that Snell and the Yankees are still too far part on contract terms for the recommendations to make a difference.
To date, the Yankees are the only team to extend an official contract offer to the reigning NL Cy Young winner Snell. It was a very sizable offer too, but Snell reportedly turned it down in the hopes of getting more.
The Yankees have already had a busy offseason of acquisitions, swinging the blockbuster trade for Juan Soto last month and landing another big-name pitcher in free agency a couple of weeks ago. A Snell signing on top of that appears that it would have the backing of the team’s biggest talents. But Snell may have to come down significantly on his asking price to get the Yankees (or any other team for that matter) to actually bite.
