If you ask any New York Giants fan about their honest thoughts about Daniel Jones, they’d probably tell you that he’s the worst quarterback in history. For many, he fell off so hard after winning a huge contract in the past offseason.
However, there are still pockets within the Giants fandom that still put their trust in Danny Dimes. A respected basketball coach suggested that there’s one thing the Giants should at least provide for Jones before they decide to kick him out and start finding a new signal-caller.
Rick Pitino wants the New York Giants to provide a better offensive line for Daniel Jones
Rick Pitino is a basketball coach who is respected for his passion to the Giants. He posted on X that the Giants don’t have to do away with Jones after the promising performance he gave in 2022. Instead, he focused the spotlight on the sorry state of the offensive line that was supposed to buy him time.
Working out n these shows keep asking should the Giants trade @Daniel_Jones10 . Why not talk about things that possibly could happen. Give Danny Dimes some protection n he will be terrific. Patience is a virtue – no more Geno Smith's becoming outstanding elsewhere

Pitino’s take on the matter is completely understandable to New York Giants fans who watched them play this season. The Giants offensive line led the entire NFL in sacks received this season at 85. The second-worst teams in the NFL, The Washington Commanders and Carolina Panthers, had 20 less than them.
Looking at these numbers, it’s completely understandable why Jones had terrible numbers in 2023: he passed for 909 yards, 2 TDs, and 6 INTs while getting sacked a ridiculous 15.8% of his pass attempts. He also had a career-low 70.5 QB rating last season.
Word around the New York Giants still has Jones as the starter for 2024, much to the fans’ chagrin. However, fans are fickle creatures: if a better O-Line manages to bring Jones back to his best, they’ll soon be shouting for him to become league MVP.
