Barring any surprises, the\u00a0Chicago Bears\u00a0are set to take Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024\u00a0NFL Draft\u00a0that begins next Thursday. The Bears obtained the pick via the Carolina Panthers, who gave up their 2024 first-rounder as part of the deal to move up and take Bryce Young first overall in 2023.<\/p>\n

During the Cubs\u2019 afternoon home game against the Miami Marlins at Wrigley Field, Chicago fans sitting in left field started a \u201cCaleb Williams\u201d chant:<\/p>\n

The Bears all but confirmed that they\u2019d be selecting Williams when they traded starting QB Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a late-round pick. In his final season of college football, Williams threw for 3,633 yards and 30 touchdowns against only five interceptions.<\/p>\n

Caleb Williams Can Be A Franchise-Changer For Chicago<\/h2>\n

Over the past 15 or so years, there haven\u2019t been many quarterback prospects who entered the\u00a0NFL\u00a0with as much hype as Williams. Only Andrew Luck (first overall in 2012) and Trevor Lawrence (first overall in 2021) had this same level of expectations as Williams.<\/p>\n

Williams has the skill set and a deep set of playmakers (including Keenan Allen, DJ Moore and D\u2019Andre Swift) to emerge immediately as a superstar.
