This time around, the O-line received custom golf carts to go along with the 2022 set of sticks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Patrick-Mahomes65-e1703112402619.jpg?quality=65&amp;strip=all&amp;w=780\" alt=\"Chiefs players revealed Patrick Mahomes' 2023 Christmas gift to the offensive line.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Center Creed Humphrey and guard Trey Smith both shared their appreciation on their Instagram stories (relayed for the public via Fox 4 KC\u2019s Harold Kuntz on X).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAppreciate you! Willie Gay is a little jealous \ud83e\udd23,\u201d the fan joked above the viral post.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chiefs Offensive Line Ranked 12th Heading Into Week 16<\/strong><br \/>\nPro Football Focus is generally viewed as one of the top NFL sites to look at for offensive line rankings each year. Heading into Week 16, the Chiefs were ranked 12th in PFF\u2019s weekly update, which is a bit lower than usual within the Patrick Mahomes era.<\/p>\n<p>The weekly ranks take into account injuries and absences, so rookie Wanya Morris was listed at left tackle with Joe Thuney, Humphrey, Smith and Jawaan Taylor filling out the rest of the starting five.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce again, left tackle Donovan Smith was inactive and replaced by Wanya Morris,\u201d PFF outlined. \u201cThe rookie offensive lineman earned a 62.1 overall grade against the [New England] Patriots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight tackle Jawaan Taylor earned a 43.9 overall grade against New England, finishing as Kansas City\u2019s lowest-graded offensive lineman,\u201d PFF writer Zolt\u00e1n Buday continued. \u201cTaylor is on pace to earn the lowest pass-blocking and lowest run-blocking grades of his career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Buday also named Thuney the Chiefs \u201cbest player\u201d on the OL.<\/p>\n<p>Reasoning: \u201cThuney has earned an 88.2 pass-blocking grade over the past four weeks, which ranks third among all offensive linemen over that span.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kansas City dropped down one spot in this ranking from Week 15 to Week 16.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tough Year 1 in Kansas City for Chiefs RT Jawaan Taylor<\/strong><br \/>\nTaylor signed a four-year, $80 million contract with the Chiefs last spring \u2014 and it\u2019s not off to the best start.<\/p>\n<p>The new right tackle has allowed 37 quarterback pressures this year. That ranks tied for 15th in the NFL for all offensive linemen. He also had trouble with penalties early in the season.<\/p>\n<p>Smith \u2014 the Chiefs new left tackle \u2014 has actually been worse in pass protection, allowing 42 quarterback pressures in fewer snaps.<\/p>\n<p>However, KC fans can take some solace in knowing that former LT Orlando Brown Jr. has allowed the most pressures in the NFL heading into Week 16 with 50. Last year\u2019s starting RT Andrew Wylie is also ranked below Taylor, with 40 pressures allowed so far.<\/p>\n<p>If the Chiefs hope to get back to the Super Bowl in 2023, they\u2019ll need more from Taylor.
