{"id":82717,"date":"2024-01-20T14:16:31","date_gmt":"2024-01-20T14:16:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mlbhi.aweu.info\/?p=82717"},"modified":"2024-01-20T14:17:20","modified_gmt":"2024-01-20T14:17:20","slug":"uzzie-says-hes-fine-after-scary-incident-still-needs-to-pass-concussion-test-to-be-cleared-for-gabba-clash-bbb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aweu.info\/uzzie-says-hes-fine-after-scary-incident-still-needs-to-pass-concussion-test-to-be-cleared-for-gabba-clash-bbb\/","title":{"rendered":"Uzzie says he\u2019s \u2018fine\u2019 after scary incident, still needs to pass concussion test to be cleared for Gabba clash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Usman Khawaja is in some doubt to be fit for Australia\u2019s second Test against the West Indies at the Gabba beginning January 25 after copping a nasty bouncer on the chin from Shamar Joseph on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Khawaja was forced to retire hurt during Australia\u2019s second innings of the first Test after the incident, which left him bleeding.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-82719\" src=\"https:\/\/mlbhi.aweu.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/uzzie-says-hes-fine-after-scary-incident-still-needs-to-pass-concussion-test-to-be-cleared-for-gabba-clash-bbb.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"539\" height=\"393\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cricket Australia issued a statement which confirmed Khawaja hadn\u2019t suffered a fractured jaw, but has to be monitored before being passed fit to play in the Gabba Test.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUsman Khawaja has been cleared of a fractured jaw and will be monitored for any delayed concussion symptoms leading into the second NRMA Insurance Test match against the West Indies in Brisbane,\u201d the CA statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKhawaja was not diagnosed with concussion on his initial post-match assessment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Khawaja will have to pass another concussion test on Saturday in order to line up for the final Test of the summer on home soil.<\/p>\n<p>He posted on Instagram that he was OK after the scary incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks for all the well wishes.
