First-year Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales was brought in to turn the Panthers into a winner again.
Part of the job description also includes helping turn second-year quarterback Bryce Young into a much better NFL player.
In an effort to achieve that, Canales, GM Dan Morgan, and owner David Tepper need to get him some more weapons.
They already have veteran Adam Thielen.
They also traded for Pro Bowl receiver Diontae Jonson earlier this offseason.
Now, it appears as though they are focused on drafting some weapons for him.
If Carolina is truly serious about helping Young, they don’t need to look any further than their own backyard to find him a potentially great running mate.
South Carolina receiver Xavier Legette is apparently one of their favorite prospects.
In an interview with USA Today’s John Crumpler, Legette stated that he has “met with the Panthers 4 or 5 times” during the pre-draft process and is ready for them to draft him.
“I’ve met with the Panthers 4 or 5 times… They keep telling me that if I’m sitting at (pick) 33 they’re going to take me.”
South Carolina WR Xavier Legette was not shy about disclosing his relationship with the receiver-needy, local Carolina Panthers.

Legette has a lot of the characteristics to be a great pass-catcher in this league for a long time.
He stands at 6-3 and weighs close to 230 pounds.
The funny thing about that is he has 4.3 speed.
Running that fast at that size isn’t something that happens in the NFL all that often.
This wide receiver class is very deep, so it is easy to forget about a guy that isn’t from Ohio State or LSU.
But Legette is a legit player that can take the Panthers into the future with Young.
